Our Services

At the Department of Neurology, we provide expert care for a wide range of neurological conditions, from emergencies to chronic disorders.

We are a Stroke Ready Hospital, offering immediate treatment for stroke and related conditions. Our emergency team uses advanced imaging and follows international protocols to treat strokes quickly. We have successfully achieved the door-to-needle time (20 to 60 minutes) better than international standards. We also provide specialised procedures such as clot removal (thrombectomy), brain artery stenting, and treatment for brain vessel conditions like aneurysms and AVMs.

  • Epilepsy care: We offer advanced diagnosis and treatment, including continuous EEG monitoring and epilepsy surgery evaluation for patients not responding to medication.
  • Management of nerve and muscle disorders: We diagnose and treat conditions affecting nerves, muscles, and their connections, supported by advanced testing facilities, including an EMG-Nerve Conduction Study (NCS) machine and a portable EMG-NCS machine that are managed and operated by experts.
  • Management of neurodegenerative diseases: Our weekly-run Memory Clinic provides care for conditions like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, with a focus on improving quality of life.
  • Normal pressure hydrocephalus management: We help patients with walking difficulty, memory loss, and urinary symptoms through clinical assessment and advanced gait analysis with MRI imaging (conducted in the advanced Gait lab with the assistance of the Rehabilitation team).
  • Trigeminal neuralgia treatment: We perform a detailed clinical analysis and neuroimaging of patients with trigeminal neuralgia, and manage this condition with medications. In refractory cases, the neurosurgeon may perform a procedure or, in a few selected cases, a surgery to help these patients.
  • Wilson disease management: Our team evaluates, manages, and treats this rare disorder in collaboration with liver specialists for lifelong care of patients.
  • Brain tumour management: We offer a range of treatments, including surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care, tailored to each patient.
  • Management of neuro trauma: We handle all types of brain and spinal injuries with expert care.

  • Botulinum toxin therapy: It is used to treat movement disorders like dystonia and spasticity. This therapy is available at our daily outpatient services and in the Movement Disorders and Botulinum Toxin Therapy Clinic.
  • Deep brain stimulation (DBS): We use this surgical procedure to adjust the  imbalances within the brain that occur due to Parkinsonism and other diseases.
  • Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS): TMS is a non-invasive brain stimulation technique used for managing several neurological and psychiatric conditions. Our centre, under Dr. Manish A. Chhabria, is one of the few centres in India that offer this service and possibly the first in Mumbai to provide TMS services for patients.

The neurorehabilitation services are designed to assist patients with neurological injuries or illnesses. Our team helps patients regain their lost skills and acquire new adaptive skills to maximise independence and self-esteem. This integrated approach ensures that patients receive patient-centric healthcare through a holistic healing approach, addressing both their physical and cognitive needs

A sleep study, also known as polysomnography, is a comprehensive test used to diagnose sleep disorders. It records the brain waves, oxygen levels in the blood, heart rate, breathing, as well as eye and leg movements during sleep.

The test is usually performed at night. However, it may be done during the day for shift workers who usually sleep in the daytime. In addition to diagnosis, a sleep study might help determine a treatment plan in case of a sleep disorder diagnosis. It also might be used to adjust treatment.

The Tower
  • Neurodiagnostic Unit

This unit is equipped with advanced tools to help accurately diagnose a wide range of neurological conditions. We offer:

    • Electroencephalogram (EEG): Records brain wave activity to detect seizures or abnormalities.
    • Video EEG: (2-72 hours): Combines EEG with video monitoring for detailed seizure analysis.
    • Electromyography (EMG): Evaluates muscle electrical activity and, together with nerve-conduction tests, helps pinpoint nerve or muscle disorders.
    • Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) Test: Measures the speed of nerve signals.
    • Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SSEP): Check nerve pathways from limbs to the brain.
    • Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry (BERA): Assesses hearing and brainstem function.
    • Visual Evoked Potentials (VEP): Measure brain response to visual stimuli.
    • Electroretinography (ERG): Evaluates the retina’s function.
    • Carotid Duplex and Transcranial Doppler: Ultrasound studies that assess blood flow to the brain.

  • Neuropsychology Unit

We provide expert assessment, follow-up, and intervention for patients with dementia (memory loss), head injuries, and other brain-related conditions, helping manage the cognitive and emotional impact of neurological disorders.

  • Education & training

Our department is recognised by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi, for offering Diplomate of National Board (D.N.B.) training in Neurology to nurture the next generation of neurologists.

  • Continuous learning and community awareness

As part of our commitment to advancing care, we regularly conduct continuous medical examinations (CMEs) and programs with National and International faculties, as part of our commitment towards continuous learning, and also conduct awareness programs and campaigns to educate the general public about common neurological diseases.

The Tower
  • Acute stroke: Sudden loss of brain function due to blocked or burst blood vessels
  • Transient ischemic attack: a temporary stroke-like episode
  • Epilepsy: Repeated seizures occurring due to abnormal brain activity
  • Nerve and muscular diseases: Disorders that affect the nerves, connections between nerves and muscles, or the muscles themselves, leading to weakness or numbness.
