Observerships & Internships

Overview

Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre offers structured observership/internship programmes for high school students and individuals aspiring to pursue a career in medicine or healthcare.

The primary goal of these programmes is to enhance clinical knowledge and provide a comprehensive overview of medical specialities, while offering an opportunity to learn about the best medical practices.

These programmes allow qualified national and international medical students to visit the hospital, and observe, interact, and learn from renowned senior doctors and healthcare professionals.

The programmes include modules focussed on learning and exposure to advanced medical technologies and varied teaching and treatment protocols.

Observership/Internship is an educational initiative where participants observe daily hospital routines, learn about new medical technologies, and witness best clinical practices. However, participants do not engage in direct patient care, nor do they provide assistance during medical procedures, tests, or surgeries. No hands-on patient care/contact/examination or research involvement is permitted.

  • Observers must strictly adhere to patient privacy and confidentiality protocols.
  • Observership is a non-remunerative, hands-free programme.
  • When training is part of a formal curriculum (e.g., rehabilitation, masters, dietetics), it is termed an internship; however, if it is based on individual interest, it is called an observership.
