Our department offers the following sub-speciality services:

  • Hip & Knee Surgeries: Customised treatment programs for arthritis and impaired joint function, focusing on joint replacement, osteotomy for joint realignment/reshaping, and joint revision surgery for patients from all age groups. Our advanced procedures include robotic hip and knee replacement, computer-assisted navigation surgery, minimally invasive replacement, and complex hip replacement.
  • Foot and Ankle Procedures: We offer comprehensive care for disorders of the foot and ankle through a variety of surgical and non-surgical options, including ankle arthroscopy (insertion of a tiny camera between the joints to visualise the damage and repair it), ligament reconstruction, and deformity correction.
  • Hand, Wrist, Elbow, and Shoulder Procedures: Our upper limb surgeons provide treatments designed to keep patients active, including rotator cuff repair, shoulder arthroscopy, and wrist instability management.
  • Joint Preservation Centre: Our joint preservation centre focuses on preserving natural joints through advanced procedures such as core decompression (relieving pressure within the bones to promote blood flow), bone marrow concentrate augmentation (injection of the bone marrow harvested from the patient into an injured area to promote healing), and innovative cartilage repair techniques.
  • Sports Health: Our sports health team offers both surgical and non-surgical interventions for sports injuries including advanced arthroscopic procedures for ligaments and soft tissue repair.
  • Trauma and Complex Fracture Services: Expert care for simple and complex fractures and dislocations utilising techniques such as minimally invasive fixation and post-traumatic deformity corrections.
  • Spine and Scoliosis Services: A wide range of treatments for spinal disorders, including microdiscectomy, a surgical procedure to remove small part of a herniated disc to relieve pressure on the compressed spinal nerve, and complex spine and scoliosis surgeries, supported by the latest advances in minimally invasive and image-guided technologies.
  • Illizarov Reconstruction: Intervention for complex cases involving reconstructive challenges and infections, employing advanced techniques such as Illizarov reconstruction for correcting bone deformities and promoting bone lengthening, and the Masquelet Technique for treating bone defects.
  • Robotic Joint Replacement: At the forefront of orthopaedic innovation, our department offers robotic joint replacement services. This technology enables more accurate implant positioning, resulting in better outcomes and faster recovery times for patients undergoing knee and hip replacement surgeries.
  • Paediatric Orthopaedics: Specialised care for children with musculoskeletal ailments, offering everything ranging from inpatient and day-care surgical care to rehabilitation.

Our department is equipped with the latest medical technologies and facilities, including:

  • Computer-aided navigation system: We use computer-guided tracking systems to visualise the patient’s anatomy in 3D and enhance the accuracy of implant positioning in the knee/hip.
  • Robotic surgery systems for enhanced precision in joint replacements
  • Gait lab and motion analysis: We have specialised equipment for monitoring body movements and muscle activities during walking and/or running (gait analysis).
  • High-definition system for arthroscopy
  • Dedicated intensive care unit (ICU) for post-operative care and spine surgery
  • Comprehensive emergency and trauma services available 24/7
  • Daycare spine surgery facility

The Tower

We manage a wide range of conditions, from simple orthopaedic ailments to complex spinal disorders:

  • Achilles tendinitis: The painful inflammation of the Achilles tendon, which connects the calf muscles to the heel bone.
  • Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries: The tearing or spraining of the ACL, which connects the femur (thigh bone) to the tibia (shin bone) and plays a crucial role in knee joint stability.
  • Adhesive capsulitis: Also called frozen shoulder, this refers to pain/stiffness in the shoulder joints.
  • Anterior knee pain
  • Arthritis: A condition characterised by the painful inflammation of the joints.
  • Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hip: A condition associated with tissue death occurring in the head of the femur (thigh bone) due to a lack of blood supply, ultimately causing pain and collapse of the hip joint.
  • Bone tumours
  • Bunion: A bony growth at the base of the big toe, which causes this toe to deviate towards the other toe.
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome: Compression of the median nerve, which runs through the wrist and into the carpal tunnel (a narrow passage surrounded by bones and ligaments on the palm side), causing tingling, numbness, and pain.
  • Cervical and lumbar spondylosis: A degenerative condition characterised by the ageing-induced wear and tear of the ligaments and joints in the spine in the neck (cervical spondylosis) and lower back regions (lumbar spondylosis).
  • De Quervain tenosynovitis: Inflammation of the tendons and tendon sheaths on the thumb side of the wrist, causing wrist pain.
  • Degenerative spine conditions: A group of conditions associated with the gradual loss of function of the spine.
  • Developmental dysplasia of hip: The abnormal formation and development of the hip joint, leading to hip joint instability and/or dislocation.
  • Ganglion cyst: A non-cancerous fluid-filled lump occurring near joints, especially in the hands and wrist, that may sometimes cause pain and restrict movement.
  • Genu Varum: Also called bowlegs, this condition refers to the curving of the legs outward at the knees (bowing), due to which the knees appear widely spaced when the feet are together in a standing position.
  • Hip arthritis
  • Hip bursitis: Inflammation of the bursae, i.e., fluid-filled cushioning sacs that serve as friction-reducing cushions between muscles and bones in the hip, causing pain and stiffness.
  • Hip dislocation (anterior or posterior): Movement of the head of the femur from the acetabulum, which is the socket of the hip joint (in which the femoral head is present), in the forward (anterior) or backward direction (posterior).
  • Knee cartilage damage
  • Knee bursitis: Inflammation of the bursae in the knee, causing knee pain and swelling.
  • Limb length discrepancy: A condition in which one leg is noticeably shorter.
  • Lumbar canal stenosis: The narrowing of the spinal canal in the lower back region causes the compression of nerves to the legs, which in turn causes numbness or pain in the legs and buttocks.
  • Lumbar pain: Lower back pain.
  • Neck pain
  • Patellar tendinitis: Also called jumper’s knee, this condition refers to the inflammation of the patellar tendon, which connects the patella (knee cap) to the tibia due to overuse/injury, causing pain below the knee.
  • Rotator cuff tearThe tearing of the tendons that connect the shoulder muscles to the shoulder joint and the humerus (upper arm bone) often due to injuries or overuse, causing shoulder pain and arm weakness.
  • Slipped capital femoral epiphysisA hip problem that mostly affects growing children and teenagers, in which the ball at the top of the thighbone gradually “slips” out of place. It can cause pain in the hip, groin, or knee, a limp, and difficulty putting weight on the leg. SCFE needs prompt medical attention to prevent long-term joint damage.
  • SciaticaCompression, pinching, injury, or irritation of the sciatic nerve, which runs down the back of each leg, causing pain, numbness, and/or tingling in the legs or feet.
  • ScoliosisThe curving of the spine sideways (either side) to either side of the back, often causing pain and breathing problems.
  • Shoulder dislocation
  • Snapping hipA condition in which a snap/pop/click in the hip can be felt or heard during movement.
  • Tennis elbowDamage of the tendons connecting the forearm to the elbow due to the overuse of the forearm and wrist, causing pain and tenderness in the elbow and forearm.
  • Trigger fingerA condition in which, due to the inflammation of tendons in the fingers, one of the fingers gets stuck in a bent position and suddenly pops straight (like releasing a trigger).
