Overview

The Ophthalmology Department at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital showcase cutting-edge technology that defines the future of eye care. Our laser-assisted surgical systems enable bladeless, high-precision cataract procedures, ensuring greater safety, faster recovery, and unmatched accuracy. These systems use advanced imaging and femtosecond laser technology to create a level of surgical precision that was previously unattainable. For patients, this means minimally invasive procedures with more predictable results, while for healthcare providers and partners, it demonstrates our commitment to world-class innovation and clinical excellence.

In addition to surgical advancements, we utilize next-generation diagnostic and therapeutic platforms to treat a wide range of vision conditions. From automated, data-driven myopia management to non-invasive thermal therapies for dry eye relief, our technology delivers personalized, high-efficiency care

The Tower

The Alcon LenSx Laser is a leading-edge technology that enables precise and automated cataract surgery. It assists surgeons in creating precise incisions and performing lens fragmentation, resulting in improved surgical outcomes and reduced surgical duration. The LenSx Laser System is the leader in refractive surgery and has the following advantages over manual systems:

  • Improved graphical user interface (GUI) offers surgeons an intuitive, efficient workflow when performing personalised topography-guided laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) procedures.
  • Modernised hardware delivers ergonomic features and new equipment colour, allowing customisation by surgeons.
  • Endoscopic Camera: The system includes an endoscopic camera that provides a magnified, high-resolution view of the surgical field. This allows the surgeon to visualise the area in detail, even in hard-to-reach locations.
  • Ergonomic additions to improve surgeon comfort and efficiency, such as a heads-up display for the surgeon’s dominant eye and a clearly arranged control panel.
  • Higher-contrast GUI and a back-lit keyboard to optimise surgeon comfort while working in the dim lighting that is common in procedure rooms.
  • Updates to the laser are designed to reduce the procedure time, maximise patient comfort, and mitigate increased intraocular pressure.
  • New key switch and emergency laser emission stop switch to allow the surgeon to turn the laser system on/off and shut down the device immediately in case of an emergency.

Reliance Foundation Hospital is among the very few hospitals that have installed a LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation system—a specialised device developed by Tear Sciencefor the treatment of dry eye disease, a condition where the eyes either produce insufficient tears or low-grade tears that are unable to maintain eye lubrication.

The LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation System delivers precisely controlled heat and pulsatile pressure to clear physical obstructions in the tear oil glands in the eyelids, thereby allowing the resumption of oil production by these glands and—by extension—restoration of the oil layer of the tear film, which plays a crucial role in maintaining eye health.

The Tower

The Reliance Foundation Hospital is among the very few hospitals that have installed the Myopia Master System.

This versatile system enables cornea curvature measurement (keratometry), refractive error determination (autorefraction), and eye size evaluation (axial length analysis) in a single acquisition, thereby serving as a comprehensive system for the rapid measurement of eye parameters in a contactless manner. As is evident from the name, the Myopia Master System is a one-stop solution for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of myopia. Importantly, this system can bring down myopia progression in children by 40% to 60%.
