Dr. Tvisha Parikh is a Sports and Exercise Medicine Physician in the Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
She graduated from T.N. Medical College – B.Y.L. Nair Charitable Hospital, Mumbai. She then earned a Master’s in Sport & Exercise Medicine from the University of Glasgow, UK, followed by a Ph.D. in Sports Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Parikh is an AYUSH-certified Yoga Instructor, which allows her to integrate holistic practices with her expertise in allopathic medicine. Dr. Parikh did her internship at B.Y.L. Nair Charitable Hospital (Mumbai)—Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Respiratory Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ENT, Ophthalmology—and Liverpool John Moores University (Liverpool, UK) (Sport and Exercise Science). Then she worked as a Visiting Sports Physician at Sports Science Institute of South Africa (Cape Town, South Africa). Dr. Parikh did her observership in Preventive Cardiology and Rehabilitation at Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland and Columbus, USA).
Dr. Parikh served as an Associate Consultant and University Lecturer in Sports & Exercise Medicine at the Centre for Sports Science and Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai for seven years. She also served as the Sports Medicine Doctor for India at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, providing care for Olympic athletes and staff throughout the duration of the event at the Olympic Village. In addition, she has been the on-field sports medicine doctor for World Tennis Association (WTA) tournaments and the England Women’s Cricket Team (during their tours in Mumbai). Dr. Parikh also provided sports medicine support for extreme endurance races (ultra-races) that involve covering distances ranging from 55 to 555 km over five days at altitudes exceeding 10,000 feet in Ladakh.
She has been invited by various national and international organisations, running groups, and community forums to deliver talks on various topics in exercise and sports medicine, such as injury prevention, knee injuries, shoulder pain, foot biomechanics, athletic assessment, marathon injuries, anti-doping, exercise, fitness and weight loss in various cities across India – Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Coimbatore, Bangalore, Goa.
Dr. Parikh focusses on comprehensive athletic care, including the prevention and treatment of illnesses and injuries, to ultimately achieve higher performance. She also treats people affected by a variety of illnesses using a combination of scientific exercises and health-promoting lifestyle changes. Dr. Parikh is passionate about combating lifestyle diseases; she believes the best way to control the current epidemic of various lifestyle diseases is to empower as many people as possible by educating and enabling individuals to take charge of their own health.
