Dr. Tapas Mandal is a Consultant at the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management, Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital.
After completing his M.B.B.S., Dr. Mandal completed his M.D. (Anaesthesia) from B.Y.L. Nair Hospital and Topiwala National Medical College. Subsequently, he went to England for 5 years, where he worked at leading hospitals in London. He also worked at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge University. There, he gained further experience in abdominal solid organ transplants and thoracic, upper gastrointestinal tract, and hepato-pancreatic biliary surgeries. He also gained expertise in managing high-risk pregnancies, administering regional anaesthesia, and implementing perioperative care and Enhanced Recovery Protocols to improve surgical outcomes.
Dr. Mandal became a Fellow of the prestigious Royal College of Anaesthetists, UK in 2013. He completed certified training courses in emergency and life-saving procedures, awarded by the Resuscitation Council UK; these includeALS, EPLS, and ATLS certifications.
Dr. Mandal is a member of the International Liver Transplant Society. He has a keen interest in academics and advancing research in the field of Anaesthesiology. Dr. Mandal has a keen interest in Medical Education and Training and currently oversees academic programmes in Anaesthesia for residents and fellows at the department. He is the Faculty In-Charge for overseeing the highly regarded Onco-Anaesthesia Fellowship Programme at Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital. Dr. Mandal has presented numerous papers and posters at various prestigious conferences and has several publications in peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, Dr. Mandal has served as Invited Faculty at many national conferences. He also serves as a reviewer for the Indian Journal of Anaesthesia (IJA) and the Journal of Oncoanaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine (JOAPM).
