Bio:

Dr. Shweta Bansal is Head Paediatric Haemato-Oncology and Paediatric BMT, Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital. She is a renowned Consultant Paediatric Haemato-Oncologist. Dr. Bansal graduated from Government Medical College, Mumbai and received her D.N.B. (Paediatrics) from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi. 

She has a Professional Diploma in Clinical Research (P.D.C.R.) and a professional certification in principles and practice of CART-cell and gene therapy (Singapore).

Dr. Bansal has worked as an Adviser for Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Services and then as an Honorary Consultant at the Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology, LTM General Hospital, Sion, Mumbai. She served as the Ethis Committee Member of National Institute of Immunohaematology (NIIH).

Dr. Bansal served as the Editor-in-Chief of the South Asian Journal of Cancer (2014–2016) and as the Editor for Newsletter, Marrow Donor Registry of India (2010–2011). Further, she is also the National Advisory Board Member for Indian Journal of Medical and Pediatric Oncology (2019–present).

Dr. Bansal was nominated as the Best Haematologist in the India Today Survey 2021 and featured among the Top Doctors in the Outlook Health Survey 2022.

Awards/Felicitations/Achievements:

  • She has bagged several best paper awards at national and international conferences
  • Was invited as Guest Editor for the CML edition of IJMPO journal which presented 8000 patients of CML from all over India
  • Has been instrumental in establishing the BMT units at both private and Public (LTMGH Sion) hospitals, and both are running the transplants services successfully
  • Performed the first immunologically advanced bone marrow transplant CD45 RA depleted in India with success and one of the first few paediatric oncologists to start immunotherapy for paediatric cancer patients in India (Anti-GD2 therapy for neuroblastoma)
  • Felicitated by the Society of Oncology, Patna in 2010 for work in the field of Paediatric Oncology
