Dr. Shashikala Shivaprakash is Section Head, Department of Laboratory Medicine at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital.
Dr. Shivaprakash completed her M.B.B.S. from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum, followed by an M.D. in Microbiology from Bangalore Medical College. With a specialisation in the laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases and infection control, Dr. Shivaprakash has extensive expertise in molecular diagnostics with a special emphasis on cutting-edge next generation sequencing (NGS) technology.
Previously, she was instrumental in the designing and establishing a state-of-the-art Microbiology Laboratory at Seven Hills Hospital, Mumbai. She has also served as an Associate Professor at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Cochin.
In addition to her clinical role, she also serves as a Guide for D.N.B. students, sharing her knowledge and expertise to nurture the next generation of medical professionals.
Dr. Shivaprakash is an Editorial Member of Journal of The Academy of Clinical Microbiologists. She is credited with several publications and is a reviewer for various national and international journals.
