Dr. Samir Shah is a Consultant Haematologist at the Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
After completing his M.B.B.S. and M.D., Dr. Shah started his training in Infectious Diseases at Kasturba Hospital, Mumbai, after which he completed 3 years of training in Haematology at Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore. Then, he worked as a Transplant Registrar at Christian Medical College, where he was responsible for pre-transplant work-up, bone marrow harvesting, cryopreservation in cases of autologous marrow and peripheral blood stem cells (PBSCs), and apheresis for the collection of platelets, PBSCs, and granulocytes. Dr. Shah has provided medical care for patients with thalassaemia major, aplastic anaemia, acute myeloid and lymphoblastic leukaemia, chronic myeloid leukaemia, and myelodysplastic syndrome.
Dr. Shah further completed his training at Royal Free Hospital, London, UK, which has one of the largest Haemophilia Centres in Europe and a well-established Thrombophilia Programme; there, he gained extensive experience in managing patients with various coagulation factor–associated deficiencies and their complications. Dr. Shah has presented and published multiple papers on haematological disorders and their complications in India and overseas.
