Dr. Rushi Deshpande is a Consultant Nephrologist and Renal Transplantation Physician at the Department of Nephrology at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre, where he also serves as the Director of the Department of Nephrology.
After earning his M.B.B.S. and M.D., Dr. Deshpande completed D.N.B. (Nephrology) in 2002 and D.M. (Nephrology) in 2003. He further advanced his expertise as a Fellow in Nephrology at University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada for two years and in Kidney Transplantation for one year in a programme accredited to American Society of Transplantation, Toronto, Canada.
Since 2006, he has been serving as a Consultant in Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation in Mumbai.
His academic excellence has been recognised with a Gold Medal in Pharmacology from Dr. BAM University, Aurangabad, and ranked first in the University in second year M.B.B.S. He is also a recipient of a Gold Medal in D.N.B. (Nephrology) awarded by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the then Hon. President of India.
Dr. Deshpande has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and presented research at various national and international conferences.
As a founding member of the Critical Care Nephrology Association (CCNA), he is a leading expert in his field. Dr. Deshpande further honed his skills through a short-term observership at Tokyo Women’s Medical University, Japan, under the mentorship of Dr. Kazunari Tanabe, M.D., Ph.D., Professor and Chairman of the hospital. Dr. Tanabe is renowned for pioneering ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation, a technique Dr. Deshpande now confidently performs as a routine procedure at our hospital.
