Dr. Rekha G. Daver is Consultant at the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
She topped M.B.B.S. exams with Gold Medal in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. After pursuing M.D. (OBGYN, 1978), she trained in LASER & Micro-surgery at Baylor College of Medicine & Reproductive Research Training at the University of Texas, Houston, USA. She underwent further training in HIV/AIDS at the University of South Florida, Tampa, USA.
Despite receiving Green Card for permanent residency in USA, she returned to India to serve underprivileged patients and train students. She retired as the Dean, G.M.C., Akola. Earlier, she was Professor & Head at Grant Medical College and Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals, Mumbai for 20 years.
She has been a full-time teacher for 45 years and an examiner for M.B.B.S., M.D./M.S., D.N.B. (OBGYN), CPS (D.G.O., D.F.P., and FCPS).
Dr. Daver was the Principal Investigator for several research studies conducted by ICMR, NACO & WHO. Notable amongst them is the ‘Prevention of Mother To Child transmission of HIV (PMTCT)’. Additionally, UNAIDS has appreciated her work on their website (Tireless Indian Doctor Dedicated to Women’s Health). She has contributed to research in newer methods in family planning such as female condoms, injectable contraceptives and contraceptive implants, and medical abortion with misoprostol.
Dr. Daver has been nominated by the Government of India and Government of Maharashtra for various task forces and research groups. She has been the Gynaecologist to the Governor of Maharashtra.
She has published several papers and has been invited as faculty in National and International conferences. Her passion is women’s health promotion and health education. She has been invited to several TV and Radio health programs and published articles in magazines and newspapers.
