Bio:

Dr. Manish Agarwal is a renowned Orthopaedic Oncologist at the Department of Surgical Oncology at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and is also practicing at Nanavati Max Super Specialty Hospital, Mumbai. He has over two decades of experience in Orthopaedic Oncology. and is widely recognised as one of the pioneers of Orthopaedic Oncology in India. 

Dr. Agarwal completed his M.B.B.S. and M.S. from Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai. After completing his fellowship at Tata Memorial Hospital (June to December, 1993), he joined KEM Hospital as a Lecturer. In 2000, he joined Tata Memorial Hospital as a full time orthopaedic oncologist. 

He has published numerous papers in national and international journals, and has presented his research at various conferences and seminars. Dr. Agarwal has trained many young orthopaedic surgeons in orthopaedic oncology and has been actively involved in organising and participating in teaching programmes and workshops for orthopaedic surgeons across India. 

Dr. Agarwal has made significant contributions to orthopaedic oncology which include: 

  • Pioneering limb salvage surgery for bone and soft tissue tumours. He has performed numerous successful limb salvage surgeries, which have helped improve the quality of life of patients.
  • Developing a world-class tumour prosthesis—in partnership with IIT, Mumbai and NFTDC, Hyderabad—which is undergoing clinical trials at AIIMS, Delhi and Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. He also initiated and guided projects at the Biotechnology Incubation Centre at IIT, Mumbai.
  • Partnering with “V”Care, an NGO, and starting a Sarcoma Support Group called “SPANDAN”.
