Dr. Lajja Shah is a Consultant-Speech & Swallow Therapist at the Department of ENT, Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital. She did her Master’s in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from Topiwala National (T.N.) Medical College, Mumbai.
Dr. Shah has worked in various private hospitals and clinics across Mumbai. She specialises in rehabilitation for adults and children with speech, language, and swallowing difficulties, especially swallowing therapy for neurology and oncology patients and voice rehabilitation.
Dr. Shah is certified in Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT)—an evidence-based therapy for Parkinson’s disease—and Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing Testing. Further, she is a specialist in Laryngectomy Rehabilitation and holds a certification for the same from Manipal University.
She strongly believes in a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation and hence works closely with other specialities to ensure comprehensive care. At Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital, Dr. Shah has played a pivotal role in setting up and developing the Speech Language and Swallowing Department, being one of the earliest team members since the inception of the hospital. She was also instrumental in launching the successful Stroke Support Group at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
Dr. Shah is a certified VitalStim Practitioner and has completed a Certificate Course in Child Psychology & Parenting. Currently, she is pursuing certification for Modified Barium Swallow Testing.
Owing to her strong interest in research, Dr. Shah has presented oral papers and posters at multiple national conferences.
