Bio:

Dr. Karuna Luthra is the Director of the Nuclear Medicine Department at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital.  

Dr. Luthra is dedicated to driving high-quality diagnostic nuclear medicine services at our hospital via PET-CT and Gamma camera (SPECT-CT) imaging. She also leads the Theranostic Programme where nuclear medicine treatments are now available for treatment of certain cancers.  

Dr. Luthra oversees Molecular-Targeted Radionuclide Therapy, which is now offered as part of the oncology services at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital. She has professionally administered more than 1,000 targeted therapies, including high-dose radioiodine therapy—for thyroid cancer—PRRT—for neuroendocrine tumours—PSMA therapy with Beta (Lu177) and targeted Alpha therapy—for advanced prostate cancer—and TARE for liver tumours. 

Her previous professional associations have been as Additional Director of the Nuclear Medicine Department at Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre (Mumbai), Consultant at Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre (Mumbai), being a member of the Tata Memorial Hospital team that performed the first PET-CT in India in 2004, and serving as a lecturer at KEM Hospital (Mumbai). 

She is a D.N.B. Teacher and Examiner for Nuclear Medicine, and has published articles in several national and international journals. She has also authored a book chapter on Nuclear Cardiology.

  • Expertise with Novel PET-CT imaging - Ga68-DOTATATE, PSMA PET, F-DOPA brain PET for Parkinsons, FAPI PET, Exendin PET, Pentixafor PET, etc.
  • Gamma camera and SPECT-CT scans for cardiology, endocrinology, nephro-urology, GI, and other niche indications
  • Targeted radionuclide therapy
