Bio:

Dr. Arindam Kar is a highly accomplished and experienced Intensivist, currently serving as the Additional Director of Critical Care Medicine at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.  

Dr. Kar completed his Critical Care Training at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, and further advanced his expertise with a European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine (E.D.I.C.M.) from St. Georges University Trust Hospital, London, UK. He has also undertaken training through observerships and short-term courses in 15 countries across the world. 

In his career, Dr. Kar has held significant leadership positions, including Director of Critical Care Services at C. K. Birla Group of Hospitals and Medica Superspecialty Hospitals, Kolkata. He is currently serving as the Examination Controller and has been elected as the Secretary of the Indian College of Critical Care Medicine (2024 onwards).  

Dr. Kar has authored over 12 scientific papers, position statements, and guidelines, and delivered more than 200 talks at conferences, symposia, and workshops. He played a pivotal role in drafting the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine's (ISCCM) position statement on COVID-10 care and is an active Member of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s (Government of West Bengal) Protocol Management Committee for COVID-19. 

He is an active contributor to the development of Critical Care Programmes, having trained intensivists, nurses, and registrars across India. As a teacher and examiner for various Critical Care Courses, Dr. Kar has significantly influenced the training and growth of Critical Care. He has also served as the Centre Director for E.D.I.C.M. in India since 2015, overseeing the certification of over 1,000 intensivists. 

Dr. Kar's expertise extends beyond clinical care to include Healthcare Management; he recently completed an Executive Healthcare Management Programme from I. I. M., Calcutta and is pursuing the prestigious ISQua Fellowship. His pioneering work in initiating Tele-ICU services and ECMO support in Eastern India has greatly impacted patient care in critical settings.
