Dr. Anil Karapurkar is a Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist at the Department of Neurosurgery, Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre.
He is a Teacher at Bombay University and an Examiner for the Master of Chirurgiae (M.Ch.) and Diplomate of National Board (D.N.B.) in Neurosurgery examinations. Additionally, he is a Visiting Professor at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Karnataka and Madurai Medical College, Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
Earlier, Dr. Karapurkar was the President of Asian Australasian Federation of Interventional & Therapeutic Neuroradiology (AAFITN) and the President of Cerebrovascular Society of India. He is also the Adviser of Technical Standards and Ethics for World Federation of Interventional & Therapeutic Neuroradiology (WFITN). Dr. Karapurkar is a member of many professional national societies—Neurological Society of India (NSI), Neurological Surgeons Society of India (NSSI), Indian Academy of Neurosciences (IAN), Indian Society of Anesthesiology (ISA), Neurotrauma Society of India (NTSI), International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (ISPN)—and international societies, such as AAFITN, WFITN, and Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS).
Dr. Karapurkar has delivered numerous key note addresses and orations. He has also authored chapters in books and published several articles in peer-reviewed journals of repute.
