Dr. Abhijit Thakur is a Consultant at the Department of General & Minimal Access Surgery, Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre. He completed his M.S. in General Surgery at B.Y.L. Nair Hospital in 2000. He has been actively practising for 18 years, performing all types of general, gastrointestinal, hepato-biliary, and head and neck surgeries using open and laparoscopic techniques. He is highly experienced in endocrine, breast, thyroid, and cancer surgeries as well.
Dr. Thakur received extensive training in basic and advanced laparoscopic surgeries in India and abroad. He underwent training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery—GI tract, pancreas, spleen, colon and rectum—with Prof. Zimmerman and Prof. Henry at University Hospital La Timone, Marseille, France. Dr. Thakur underwent training in open and laparoscopic surgeries—thyroid, parathyroid, neck, thymus, adrenal, pancreas—for two semesters with Prof. Henry. He trained in general, gastrointestinal, hepato-pancreatico-biliary, breast cancer, and head and neck cancer surgeries with renowned cancer surgeons at Tata Memorial Hospital and P. D. Hinduja Hospital.
Dr. Thakur is also a Senior Postgraduate Teacher for D.N.B. (General Surgery). He has also published many papers in international and national indexed medical journals and has published a book on the management of acute pancreatitis.
