Dr. Ashwin Mehta is a Mentor at the Department of Cardiology, Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre. He graduated and received his M.D. (General Medicine) from King Edward Memorial Hospital and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College, Mumbai.
Dr. Mehta worked as an Honorary Professor of Cardiology at Sion L. T. M. Medical College, University of Mumbai for more than 25 years. Currently, he teaches for D.N.B. (Cardiology) to residents.
Dr. Mehta pioneered the use of cardiac catheterisation and angiography in newborn babies and bundle electrography, in India, in 1973. He has been part of several multinational and multicentre studies, including the first systematic trial on primary angioplasty in acute myocardial infarction and clinical trials on stent evaluation and drug-eluting stents.
Dr. Mehta is the recipient of numerous accolades, including 19 gold medals (M.B.B.S. and M.D.) and the 2004 Padma Shri and Maharashtra Gaurav awards.
Dr. Mehta has participated in several conferences and performed live demonstrations on complex coronary interventions across the globe. He has presented several research papers at national and international conferences and has authored numerous journal publications.
